I

I am a young adult like many of you. I let things get under my skin more than they should. I struggle to express things. I struggle to make sense of the truths and lies in which I naturally stew. I am just like you. Depending on the time of day, I am a poet, a thinker, a spoiled brat, an artist, a musician.... I dabble in many forms of expression. I will never claim to have it all together but sometimes I do find the courage and conviction to say something that I strongly believe.

I intend this blog to be a tool to track my latest obsessions, and hopefully to learn and teach others about what matters in life. I have been lucky enough to be surrounded by fascinating and thought-provoking people and therefore the potential to skim some truth from my own backyard.

To begin, I'll just list some things that are important to me, so those who don't want to hear it will stay away.
I am an old Catholic but I new Christian. By that I mean that I was raised Catholic, but for whatever reason never found Jesus until February 5th of this year (coincidentally the birthday of my best friend in high school). I often need encouragement when it comes to trusting God the way I know I should. I let the world get to me. I am proud to be an INFP personality type, but may be too idealist for my own good. I really would wish for world peace and an end to hunger.

As of right now I try not to "blame" God for everything bad that happens in the world, but to accept that ultimately things will run according to His plan. God never makes mistakes. Each of us are where we need to be right now and it is up to us to make the most of it (not that I believe in the caste system). Living the Christian life means surrendering to the Creator and working for Him rather than serving oneself, one's parents, or one's ambitions. This is incredibly difficult to accomplish, but it is far more rewarding to live for something infinitely greater than the transitory pile of cells which houses the self.

My interests include animals, aesthetics, music, culture, literature, human rights... really the list is too long to handle at this hour. As a student I have had a very difficult time choosing a major and will never be completely happy with the one I have chosen. Every such decision closes another toll road. I am always fighting the urge to do everything at once. Today I admire Tony Benn and Francis of Assisi.

I have been known to habitually pull all-nighters, and leave personal projects woefully unfinished. With catastrophic exceptions, I tend to watch my own back when it comes to romantic love. My amazing boyfriend has begun to change this tendancy. On the other hand I am a very loyal friend and almost never turn down a request for help from friends and family. I try to improve the world in little ways and appreciate each day and person as a precious gift. My innate optimism helps me battle doubts and worries. So that's a little intro to me. Whoever you are, sweet dreams!
